Replace and upgrade the HP (40 bar) boosted water system through 44 floors and install two new storage tanks on the roof, with new cold water down service from level 44 to level 20.

‘Grundfos Pumps’ has delivered a tailor-made water boosting system for 8 Canada Square in Londons Canary Wharf which has been the global headquarters of HSBC Group since 2002.

This 45 storey building was designed by Norman Foster’s team and at 200m high, it is the second tallest building in Canary Wharf.

Their current system was starting to experience problems, therefore the Grundfos worked with Vear M&E Services to develop the new solution.

Engineering challenges included replacing the 40 bar pumps including related vessels and control panel in a very confined plant room – the pumps only had a 10cm headroom clearance.

In addition, the building had to remain fully operational.

The solution incorporated five 25 bar CR32 pumps. Following the installation, the Grundfos service team stayed on site for 48 hours to ensure there were no issues.
